this morning i made my baby cry

last night, i was on for a quest: finding the perfect gift for my other half,
my partner, my "spoon". i have been planning on what to give him since the first day of the "ber" months came so the task should be a piece of cake. or so i thought.

what's funny is, as i look for the shortlisted things i thought of giving him, i
began recalling the year that was. i practically felt like santa claus having some sort of deliberation as to whether or not this boy deserves a surprise in his christmas stocking this christmas eve.

...he almost always makes me wait everytime we meet... t-shirt na lang kaya...
...he always waits for me and picks me up whenever i work late... eh kung spa package?
...we had this major fight like two months ago... hmpf card na lang...

but you know what? i thought, what the heck? he IS my partner afterall. my yang. my sun. my financier, i mean, my friend. and more than anything he IS my love. and i know no other way to love but to love completely, selflessly and in full abandon. he may make me cry at times but nobody else can make me happier than him.

and this morning, not being able to wait till christmas eve, he opened my gift. he has been guessing all night on what it may be and i'd have to say he's damn good at it that i demanded him to stop or else it will spoil all the fun. and finally, as he was opening my gift, removing each layer of the different wrappings i made to conceal what's inside and joking at the same time, i realized that there is nothing more precious than seeing him all excited and happy like a child. i gave him a wrist watch. and suddenly, silently, i saw tears roll down his eyes. i asked him why he was crying and he told me nothing, he's just happy. and we just hugged.

so to every one make that special person feel special once again and have a merry christmas.

and to my baby, kahit p#t@ng1n@ man tong buhay na to, basta kasama kita, ok lang.

minsang isang party

yesterday, i felt both guilty and pathetic when i saw a number of gifts on my desk from my officemates. guilty because i haven't gotten anything for any of them and pathetic because i have two days left before we take our christmas break. and what makes it more pathetic is i've had like at least three trips to mall already. i swear, this is the most tiresome and longest christmas shopping series in my entire life.

anyway, i was supposed to meet up with my absi friends last night for a small christmas get together. and you guessed it right, i STILL don't have presents to any of them. luckily, work is almost non existent that i decided to take the afternoon off to, once and for all, finish my shopping. or so i hoped.

good thing minmin was also in mega that time, so she was able to help me with my
shopping. as i was picking out gifts for friends and officemates and realizing my credit limit is quickly decreasing at the same time, for a while there, i cursed the priest who officiated the mass last sunday for he talked about seizing the moment and give, give , give this christmas for who knows if it would be your last or any of your loved ones last. now who wouldn't be panic-striken with that?? i wonder if he is in anyway affiliated with the Sys or the Ayalas.

the meeting time was 8 pm and at 7:30 pm, minmin and i were at the FoodCourt deeply engaged in wrapping the gifts we bought. boy did we look funny. we were wrapping so fast we were like pros. hehehe. so anyway, we realized that we had to head to the meeting place already.

i won't be giving details how minmin and i walked the whole perimeter of mega A as we search for a cab. and how we were ridiculously laughing the whole time.

as expected, our mini party was a blast! i miss these people. i miss being crazy with these people. i miss how we feel anxious whenever the bill arrives and how we EQUALLY divide it amongst ourselves and how we always end up with either of these two scenarios (1)tec or julie always paying more or (2)all of us surprisingly "earning" in the process. haay.

sad how only 3 of the 8 people (including me) who were there last night are the only ones left in our "home base". well, i feel both happy and sad, i guess. because most of them are pursuing what they really what to be. some of them staying and waiting still. as for me, well...let's just say i'm slowly moving on.

but then again, i will always be looking forward to these get togethers with them. and it hit me just now, hindi ko lang pala sila kaibigan, kapamilya ko sila.

oops have to stop now. lump on throat slowly getting bigger. =(

ps.

good luck mike. i know the samurai in you will always shine through wherever you go.

ramblings of a frustrated shopper

i am sooo back.

i'm back from my three week hiatus. it has been so long that i actually don't
know how to start writing again. anyway, a lot has happened. there's the bora trip,
the work area decorating contest in the office, the case study, and of course there's work. i honestly don't feel like writing about any of these because days have passed and i'm bad at recalling stuff and events and details about them, so i'll just post some pictures soon. hay tamad. XP

anyway, jay and i were on our way home from another failed attempt to actually buy something for christmas. may it be a gift for somebody or for ourselves; or for a costume we need in the office. well, luck was just not on our side these days. anyway, it was almost 10 o'clock pm and the mrt station was still swamped with people. a clear sign that christmas is indeed just around the corner. everybody looked so tired and seemed to be in a rush (us included).

during these days, malls are filled with rushing shoppers and the streets? in horrible , horrible traffic. makes me wonder, since when did we treat Christmas like this? So commercialized, so pressuring, so expensive, so artificial. i mean, what if on Christmas day we don't give gifts to each other, just gather ourselves around a table , eat whatever food is on it and just talk. share stories and enjoy just being together? won't that be a refreshing change?

i, for one, is guilty of using material things to make someone else's Christmas happy. well, i'd like to think they'd be happy. but what if. what if in some turn of events i don't have enough moolah to buy stuff for everybody or anybody for that matter? will it make their Christmas less joyous? and mine less meaningful? subukan ko kaya...hehehe

i guess there's really no harm in using material gifts to make other people feel special on christmas day. let's just not make it the be all and end all of the whole event. so to everyone, maligayang pasko po!

now that i wrote this, parang nakakahiya na tuloy mag publish ng wishlist ko. shet.
