ang hirap maging babae

you guessed it right. it IS the time of the month. is it me or are there other
girls out there who, besides having to bear to the aching puson, feel flatulent and gassy inside? gross huh? but really, my tummy hurts so much that i get confused which part of it hurt. oh well. i'm just another girl rambling on a red letter day.

but seriously, ang hirap maging babae.

society dictates na dapat magaling ka maglinis ng bahay, maglaba, mamalantsa at kung ano ano pa. i know this is a bit old school and conservative but really, in a family where both the mother and the father works, ang lola mo pa rin ang all around longkatuts, yaya, cook, karpintero and tubero.

and on top of all these, dapat ka pa ring maging maganda, matalino, maayos, mabango, neat at sexy. otherwise, you will lose on some your games. ang labo di ba? well, i'm not talking about wives and girlfriends of wealthy politicians and businessmen whose job description is to be beautiful at all times a.k.a. gretchen barretto. i'm talking about the typical filipina. tulad ng nanay mo, o ng officemate mo na si lumen o nung babaeng nag aabang ng bus sa EDSA.

come to think of it, men are tough but it's tougher being a woman. it's beyond strength, it's guts. even the simplest act of peeing in a public toilet is twice as hard for crying out loud. and i didn't even mention na hindi kami pwede manligaw, or pregnancy or sagging breasts or UTI.

so to all pinays to have to endure all these and are still reading this blog mabuhay tayong lahat!

note: the author has to stop because of the "sudden gush". ;P

...

Have you even been in love? Horrible, isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...

You give them a piece of you. They don't ask for it. They do something dumb one day like kiss you, or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like "maybe we should just be friends" or "how very perceptive" turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.

when vanity strikes

i left the office early yesterday to buy a facial cleanser bestfriend and i use. the one we have was almost empty. inside the fx on my way to landmark, i had this great... great urge to... pamper myself. it has been ages since i last felt that way. i desired it so much that when the fx stopped by a spa in greenbelt, i almost got off. fortunately, i was STILL sane enough to get hold of myself and realize that i don't have enough moolah to gratify my whim. finally, i decided that i save it as a christmas gift for myself. haay sana pasko na.

but the urge didn't die down easily i tell you. as i stepped inside the landmark and looked for the originally-planned-cleanser, i saw this whole array of beauty products and suddenly felt the need to use each of them. probably, all this was because of this zit on my right cheek aching to pop out, or because everytime i see my reflection on the mrt glass windows , all i see is this haggard-looking-girl-with-pale-lips-and-limp-hair a.k.a. ngarag.

so there i was, at the point of no return, reading every label of every beauty product that caught my feasting eyes. for a moment, i wished kay, my ever prepped-up officemate, was there to tell me which is which. but realizing it's too late, i tried to remember every beauty product mentioned by ala's sister in her blog about Beauty 101.

and... from the originally-planned-cleanser, i ended up buying... (sorry baby, i know this is off our budget. peace. i love you.)... a handful of "vanitywares" from the basic cleanser-toner-moisturizer combo down to the eyelash curler and body scrub. as the counter lady swiped my credit card, i felt a gush of panic, "dem, what reason will i tell baby why i ended up buying all these stuff? patay ako. there goes my beauty 101..."

but you see... mabait naman si mokong eh (i hope!). so last night, i tried on everything i bought and felt a million bucks when felt the softness of the sheets touching my extra soft skin. haaay...when vanity strikes.

salamat kay Rosa Rosal

you know what i like most about christmas? wrapping gifts.

i know how christmas kind of deteriorates in value as one grows old. but one thing i really look forward to doing every christmas, well actually before every christmas day, is wrapping gifts. atin atin lang to ha pero sometimes i think, when everything else fails in my so-called-career, i'd definitely be a gift wrap girl at SM... hahaha. no really, it gives me a natural high.

i remember watching TeleAralan ng Kakayahan when they featured Gift Wrapping with no less than the SM "gift wrappers" as their guest resource persons. Yes, that show hosted by Rosa Rosal. husay! how they make those ribbons curl, how they do the different wrapping techniques like envelope, diagonals and the ever famous T-shirt technique! hahaha. those were the days when the gifts wrapped in a "T-shirt way" were still cool.

i really see to it that every gift i give is beautifully and intricately wrapped. that's why i end up spending more because, sometimes, the price of the wrapping "paraphernalias" are almost half the price of the gift itself. kasi 100 pesos lang naman yung gift XP so daanin na lang sapresentation. hehehe.

anyways, this is the very same reason why i hate...HATE..."gift wrappers" at the mall who wrap carelessly and hastily. yung tipong matapos lang. you know... when the edges are not aligned and there are spaces that bulge. now that's frustrating!

probably, the reason why i like giving beautifully wrapped gifts is because i like surprises. i love seeing my "receivers" all excited and happy. kahit na ba panyo lang laman eh. i believe that the fun of receiving a gift is in opening it.

logtu

can't get enough of you, ika nga
o sya, hanggang mamaya
see you ulit sa fx o sa kama kaya

trick or treat!!!

it was a year ago when sam had her first trick or treat in absi. she really had a great time. she came as a pixie.

this year, she came as the ever famous Sadako. I'd have to say that had there been an acting award for a halloween character, she'd take the ham hands down.

while at the office, she asked... "Mommy, san sila Tita Minmin?"....awww =(

here are some of her pics...

o di ba? emote na emote...hahaha

next time mother and daughter Sadako(s) na kami xP
